The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has scheduled an Operation Safe Driver Week for July 15 – 21. During Safe Driver Week, enforcement personnel will be looking for hazardous drivers from both passenger cars and commercial trucks. This includes all distractions while driving including texting, speeding, seatbelt use, improper lane change and following too closely.

According to the Large Truck Causation Study, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) states that 87% of truck incidents are related to the truck driver and 89% are related to the passenger vehicle. (source)

“We want all drivers on the road to be aware of what is causing these accidents. Our customers spend so much time on the road and we want them to be safe every trip,” says Grace Woody Vice President, Director of Operations at OTR Capital. The goal of the safe driver week is to eliminate distracted driving to reduce the number of deaths. Commercial truck drivers and passenger vehicle drivers need to work together to keep the roadways safe.
